I have been working on the gallery to be more user engaging an like instagram without all the junk and ai stuff they drop in there.

Having said that, using your phone or other mobile device have a look at

www.50mil.com or www.nikon-zf.com to see what is coming this way.

What do you think ?

Any feedback on what should be added or changed before making the switch ? For more traffic based look at www.nikonimages.com

Will we be lucky enough to get the ads as well? Bonus. This will be especially nice for anyone we link a gallery to. Good to see a "Hall of Fame", we're a bit behind the times with our lack of outright competition for likes among our members.

Re: the Nikon-zf site, it's possible for any viewer to share the poster's photo on Facebook, instagram, or X. Of course, that is always possible, even at this forum, but we don't give people the links to their Facebook and X sites to do this, basically handing them the images with a click or two.

A little confused. Can you please clarify what you are suggesting. Im a social media newbie and don't even have a Facebook account.

I dislike this for one simple reason.
All the images are presented square and have to be clicked on to see the in the original format. The current gallery shows all photos as they were cropped, rectangular, panoramic, etc.
To me this is a backwards step and I would probably stop posting. I mean why would you only show the central square out of a panoramic shot?
I always appreciate your efforts on this site but I really don't like this.

MP Guy, please take a look at one of the images on that site and you can see some menus to click on. One menu brings up the option to comment and like, or show EXIF/image details. Another brings up the social media sites I mentioned in my post. If you have a Facebook account and you click on that icon, it will take you to your Facebook page and the option with just one click to place that image on your own Facebook page without attribution to the photographer!Screenshot 2025-06-12 at 7.11.06 PM.png

It's that arrow in the bottom left corner that brings up the social media sites shown in this screenshot I took.

This refers to use on a mobile. Looking at Ellisson's post my comment does not apply to the desktop version which I rarely use.

There is an option to switch between square and regular format.

Can you please explain how? I just went back to the nikon site and apart from tapping each individual photo I can't see how to switch format on the mobile site.
Nikon site .. Need to check there. But if you go to www.nikon-zf.com on the top menu next to the dark and light icons you will see an aspect ratio icon. Just click on that it will switch between square and how it was originally formatted.

This ONLY applies when browsing on mobile device. The desktop version only shows the non square version.

Thank you for that, sounds great.

Just tried it, that's ideal. Good work.

I was getting used to and enjoying the existing layout. But I'm sure the new format will be just fine too.

I'm in support of almost anything that might promote more participation from forum members, particularly the posting of new photos and discussions about the new images. I still like seeing beautiful new images and hearing about how they are made, particularly if it's something new and exciting. It can be anything from just great technique to a different and innovative way of seeing and representing things.

Thanks for all your hard work. Much appreciated!

I'm all in favor of new photos too!

All the best,

I'm sorry but if anyone looking through the gallery can post a photographer's work as their own on social media without attribution then I can no longer allow my pictures to be in your gallery.

What is the impetus for this kind of change, were members requesting it?

H?mm

How is it shared and taken credit for as your own?

If it's just wording that can be addressed. But please give specifics.

Thanks
