any guesses as to what film this is?

it's a given that it will have a heavy markup 😛

Anyone know when it is going to be available and where you can buy it. I'd like to try a roll. Ever since the demise of Plus-X and AgfaPan 100, I've been looking for a slow B&W film that renders how I like.

Best,
-Tim

Try Lucky SHD100. Historically, Lucky had quality problems, but the company is under new management and this is a newly formulated film.

The only roll I've shot so far in 120 was terrific, though more are required to demonstrate quality control.

Avoid the 400 speed film

It's likely either rebadge Pan F or Adox HR. Currently available.
Ilford do not rebadge their own films. They used to, but they now have a well declared policy of not doing so. Pan F+ is also not superpanchromatic, which this film is claimed to be. That points at Agfa-Gaevert Aviophot Pan 80, and derived films like Adox HR-50.

Let me be grumpy for a moment ...

This is a straightup prostitution of the brand. Once the new owners learned that Leica fanboys would pay anything to own the latest branded trinket, the dialed up the prices and sold everything in sight. Good for them. If you think a nearly $10K digisnapper or a $6k M2/M4 mashup is a good buy, you deserve to be fleeced for a film they didn't make, had no input in developing, and whose only merit is the logo on the can.

It certainly helped keep the company alive, though I think what sits in Wetzar today is largely an impressionist's version of the company.

I'll stick with my 75 year old IIIf, 55 year old M4, and 50 year old M5. They all work just fine...

/grumpy

P.S. I'll probably buy a roll of this stuff to sneer at on the shelf ...

I'm loving the packaging, so of course I want one of each variation. My interest would be seriously piqued if it were produced by Light Lens Lab, though I doubt it.

LLL is preparing it's own film launch:

LLL are working on a genuinely new film. It’s much more interesting.

Now it's getting interesting for me. I just read on PetaPixel that sensivity is well into the infrared range and price will be $10. It will come in four different boxes. I'll try some for my infrared shooting. The downside is I like to shoot handheld so I guess I'll have to try pushing it.

It’s official!

And…

“Leica MONOPAN 50 will be available worldwide in Leica Stores and through authorized dealers starting August 21, 2025. The price for the Leica MONOPAN 50 is $10 USD.”

There are half a dozen films available which are all Agfa Aviphot Pan 80 in some name or another or even modified as Adox HR-50. There is no need to buy Leica film to get slow IR sensitive film.

And if you like to hand hold just get some Rollei Infrared 400 - it is probably relabelled Agfa Aviphot Pan 200, but it can facilitate hand holdable shutter speeds.
