I don't have the 18-40 (yet) but trix4ever has it and it is his standard lens on the fp. It is like half the size of the 20-60.

I also ordered a used Panny 20-60 to use as a family and vacation lens, it’s inexpensive, smallish and seems to be well regarded. Between the 20-60 and 45 I should be good for vacation.
As Shawn mentioned I love this on my Fp, but as I also love the 24/3.5 and 17/4 Sigmas on it. The 20-60 I also have and I use it all the time on my SL, just remember the 18-40mm extends in use and is a lot more money.I’m on vacation with the BF and realize I made a critical error. The prescription eyeglasses I brought are photochromic and they make it harder to see the screen. If I take them off the screen is perfectly visible, just out of focus.
I've had a hard time with photochromic eyeglass lenses as well. These days, there are much lighter tints you can get than earlier on, when it seemed all the options went very dark. They aren’t polarized, it’s the dark tint.
Very very good review. Thank you.Not to be all "read my blog!" but I did write a bit about the Sigma BF: Sigma BF Review Impressions

…utility Panasonic 20-60 f/sad zoom…
Staggered they didn't reuse Fp batteries...
If you ever want to go really wide, I recommend the 14-28mm Panny. I used it this morning on a tripod with a 10 stop ND filter at iso 6, then this afternoon as a walk around camera. Sharp out to the corners and weighs bugger all. Just slow but I have other fast lenses for low light like my 20/1.4 dg dn Sigma which is wonderful wide open.
