Photos of Aneta Grzeszykowska’s seven-year-old daughter, Francziska and a creepily realistic silicone simulacrum of Aneta. Free entry, quite engaging if you have some time free in Melbourne.

Very cool. I didn't even know this gallery existed, I'll have to check it out.

Now that I think of it, do you have any other gallery recommendations in Melbourne? I go to the NGV at least three times a year, and RMIT Gallery when they have a fun exhibition, but not much else.

Seaworks in Williamstown slowly establishes itself as a great venue for photographic exhibitions. Earlier this year they hosted the "Steve McCurry's Icons" exhibition. Right now, they are showing the "Ocean Photographer of the Year" exhibition (until 13 July). Both great exhibitions, just check the admission fees before you go. As an added benefit, you can explore Seaworks and its surrounding area with your camera. These are my local hunting grounds.

Melbourne has a much more developed photography scene than Sydney, by and large. When I'm down there I usually check out the Centre for Contemporary Photography, now in much reduced circumstances in Collingwood. There's also the Museum for Australian Photography out in the sticks (Wheelers Hill). It has a very good program but for someone without a car it's a bore to get to. Then there's the Ballarat Foto Biennale - that's usually excellent. It's on this year in August-September.
