I spent a couple of summers as a student in Syvota back in the late 90s.

I had fun photographing Syvota in the afternoon while my wife shopped (it's kind of touristy) and then had a nice snack.

How long is the bus ride from Taichung to Taipei?

i took a bus from Taipei to here, Fong-yuan Township 豐原, old Taichung County, it took about 3 and 1/2 hrs...

Taichung City to Taipei, express bus also around 3 hrs... most of the people take High Speed Train from Taichung City to Taipei, 1 hr...
check the correct time w Taiwan Railways,

I took the normal slow train from Kaohsiung to Taichung and it took 2 hours I think. Going all the way to Taipei would have taken another 4.

Yes. All toned in KRST 1:40 for 3-5 min.
