Leica M Monochrom: best pics

My beloved old M8 with the great Canon 28mm f/2.8 which I must get fixed. It plays well on the M8. And I really like how the M8 does mono.

These were hulls awaiting scrapping. The fishing boat on the left can be seen to have been built onto a sailboat hull.

So that's the M9m with the early voigt 35/1.2. At a glance I would have thought that was a film image. Lovely quality.
Yes, if you use lower contrast lenses any of the Monochroms will look just like film. I really like that v1 35/1.2.

My M11M is set to save images in JPG(small) for viewing on my iPad and DNG (large) on the SD card for editing. This was JPG straight out of the camera. It looks pretty good and often better than what I can do in Lr. 🙂

Our experiences with JPG are similar. I find that cameras often do a really great job with the images, too.

The latitude of the Monochrom is pretty impressive. As long as I am aware of the light as if shooting film the jpgs often turn out fine. Of course I would also save it in raw as well just in case.
