My S2 had a cla about a year ago and came back fine but after a few months the advance started to get sluggish. I took the lever and film counter and even the spring off and checked for something that could be causing it. When I put it all back together it was nice and snappy but now it’s sluggish again. Just wondering if anyone has run into this or if I just need to do a repeat of what I’ve done in the past.

I thought of a couple of possibilities: Old lubricants are still present, or new lubricants are the sort in which a lighter oil tends to separate from the thicker base material.

Thanks I was wondering if there were some old lubricants possibly still in there. I’m gonna take it apart once I’m finished with the roll in there now and give it a good clean for good measure

There is a ratchet mechanism within the wind assembly, spring loaded mechanical movements that return the lever. The springs are normally the culprit not lubricants.

It’s a bit of annoyance but part of the challenge of using one of these old mechanical marvels.

Is this different than the spring that’s wound under the film counter?

the spring under the film counter is the reurn spring for the wind lever, there is no spring on the film counter on the s2, the film counter is set manually.

Yep, I know that thanks. Just wasn’t sure if there was a spring besides that one that’s under the film counter.
