Indeed, beautiful images. Amazing he was never mentioned on RFF in the past.
A few images of him holding a 'Blad and a Leica and more links at the bottom of the wiki page. Touching images of him and his wife on his personal website.
That's a great page, loads and loads of pictures to see.
Funny enough, I spotted a mistake, the date of the picture is 1958 but the newspaper says that Nikita Khrushchev became first secretary of the communist party. So it must have been 1953.
Makes you wonder how many talented photographers are there to discover. The Wiki page mentions his photographic partners. When I have time, I will check then out as well.
On the image above, I wonder if he was reading an older paper in the Cafe?
Thank you Pan. Remarkable photos! Not just a few but so many are truly magnificent and very powerful. Such a marvellous arrangement of elements in a natural and simple way without trying to be different or outrageous or clever. He simply sees the beauty of what's there and he captures it. It takes hold of me and lifts the spirit as true beauty always does. Wonderful.
(I must say that I love your own photos in the same way - thank you).

A paratrooper and war correspondent who, apart from anything else, was on 'Operation Oak' documenting the freeing of Mussolini and getting him back to Germany.
More of a propaganda stunt than it might first appear.
