First of all hello to everyone, after long time reading this forum time to time i make an account because i need help with a camera.

I recently bought a yashica gx in mint external condition, after looking for batteries i finally installed two lr44 on adapters.

Camera seems to work but overexpose light is always on when mettering and shutter keep open after every shot.

Metering cell is clean, contacts are clean too and dunno what to do.

Sorry if im not explaining well but english is not my first language

Do you know the service history of the camera? Many problems with these cameras stem from a pad that engages a series of electric contacts when advancing the film. If the pad has been replaced but the size is not the right one, then all sorts of malfunctions appear.

The same as the dead pad? Ill check tomorrow. I get it from a old camera bundle. It could be but is strange that is always overexposing

I know the infamous "pad of death" is a common situation with the GS/GT cameras, but I thought the GX was a different design. With those cameras, as I understand it (and from my own experience), the camera will meter properly (assuming the correct battery/adaptor is used) but the shutter will not fire.

Here, it sounds like the metering is off and the shutter stays open. Maybe a case of the incorrect battery and adaptor, or something more complicated.

But anyway, you should check out this site if you haven't done so yet: http://www.yashica-guy.com/
