After two double-stroke M3s, two classic M6s and one M4-P, I'm now "down" to one M7. Having just sold my M4-P (it was always a back-up camera) I thought I'd replace it with a Bessa R2A. But no, the Bessa's are just not reliable enough past their standard one year warranty period. So, I'm sitting on the cash and waiting to buy either the Epson R-D1s or the just-announced Panasonic DMC-L1 dSLR sporting a Leica-designed lens. I'll always keep and USE the M7 (with a Nikon film scanner) but because good processing labs are harder and harder to find, digital is becoming more and more attractive. The planned Leica Md, which should be announced this fall (available ???), may just be too pricey at a reported target price of US$5K (or higher!)
Favorite lenses for me are now the ZM 25mm Biogon, 35 Summicorn ASPH and 75 Summicron. The Biogon has pretty much displaced my older Canon 28/2.8 but I'll still keep that screwmount lens in case I wind up buying the Epson. (Spend the extra money for the Zeiss 25/28 viewfinder too. It's worth it.)
All of this means BUPKISS if we don't go out and actually shoot! Yes, the sound and unique feel of the "M" is completely addicting but shouldn't better photos really be the test?
