I had been casually looking for one of the 1.25x eyepiece magnifiers for use with my 75 and 90, and found one for sale on pnet from a good seller for a fair price. It arrived a few days ago. What a difference - it makes the 75mm framelines huge, and the 90mm ones usable!

The one I bought was missing the pouch and chain, so the price was much lower than usual for a used one. I was very surprised to find that Leica NJ sells replacement chains for only $15 - one is on the way. This little bugger looks very easy to lose without a leash!

If you shoot a .72 M and use 75mm lenses, I highly recommend you look for one of these. If you shoot a 90mm, IMO it's almost mandatory!

I use one as well with my .72 VF and it is a very nice accessory, especially for the 90. When using one I forget it is on sometimes and I'll use it with my 50 fl, too. I have the case and the "chain." You're smart to get something to keep track of it.

The case is great since you can attach it to the neck-strap. So it's always
there for these close up, eye focusing shots. For instance, with a Canon
50/1.4 wide open, Ray 😀 (thanks again). ...
Roland.

Exactly! That's where I attach mine. Glad you're enjoying the lens, Roland! 🙂

I wear glasses so this never occured to me but I remember reading that some people whose eyes aren't set that deep have remarked it's easy to poke themselves in the eye with the magnifyer. So just a HU to check it out and make sure you don't injure yourself in the heat of action.

If your at a point in life where you're in your late 40's and wear trifocals or progressive addition lenses, consider adding to the 1.25 x magnifier a +0.5 diopter lens. It makes a HUGE difference in seeing the RF patch clearly especially for subjects closer up.

.85 (75mm lens) be too much? I realize it would be more than 1:1. Also, what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

I didn't find that much of a dimming. A bit, but more than offset by the added magnification. That said, I don't find that I use the magnifier that often at all. I bought it at the same time as the camera, and the only time I seem to bring it out is when I am testing lenses...sometimes, if I remember to bring it with me, I will put it on for using the 135mm lens. For the 75's I didn't really noticed that it helped much. For the record, I have young eyes (I am 28) and I use contacts, not glasses.

I do think it is a very good idea, and if it helps people that is great. Hopefully I will still have it if I need it in 30 years!
