MP back from DAG...

as far as ae, i sheepishly admit to using it all the time now also.
if i think the shot calls for some 'english' on it, i point the camera down and hit the ae lock button and shoot. seems to work for me.
for awile i felt a bit 'less than' for not using my handheld meter or the sunny 16 rule.

and ray, i'd love to hook up sometime...never can tell.

Very interesting your's is binding too. This is the 3rd Leica lens that I've had with focus mount problems. My 50 tabbed summicron had a spot that was binding at 3 ft and the 35 v4 summicron slops around in the focus mount. I really don't think Leica is putting the care and materials into their lens construction that they once did. None of my lenses from the 60's up ever gave a problem and in the 60's to the 80's I used them much harder than any of these lenses have been used. I actually think my ZM and CV lenses are constructed better than the late version Leitz.

I'm trying to get to Raleigh on business and have chatted with FlyFisher Tom about gettin some Bar B Q with him when I'm over thre. Another one of the members will be in K town over the holiday and we're talking about getting some wings and a beer. I travel in the business quite a lot and might make it your way one day.

I really want a ZI when I hear you guys talk so favorably about it. My X-pan is AE and has not come off of auto yet...it really helps with the format. I would love my R2 to be AE. However, I'm still a rookie and I feel that because I went with a manual camera I have learned so much about the art of photography...and I got a lot more to learn. But some day I'll be in the ZI club 🙂

This has also been my experience with my AE bodies.

Agreed. I have nowhere near the experience you have with the older Leitz lenses but I have used all but one of the Konica Hexanon-M lenses and IMHO the modern Leica could learn a lot about build quality from them.

What I loved the most about the the ZI finder was the uncluttered viewfinder and now my MP has a wonderful, uncluttered finder like the ZI.

If you're like me and you don't see yourself ever using these focal lengths, this is an $80 well spent.

Can this be restored at a later time... when you think differently?
I also wonder if missing of any frameline would affect the re-sell value of the camera.

Hmm, pair lux 35 with cron? that is too much I think 😀 do you like wide angle? as I remember you only own 50 cron right? are you concidering 50 lux? btw I want topic on how to setup printing darkroom! 😀
 
Okey, before I buy enlarger lens and light source I will need your recomendations! anyhow I want 35 lux asph too, but I have held it in my local store and I hated it 🙁 focusin tab... I know I know but still 🙁
 
I'll chime in with Xray & Kim. I use the 75mm far more than the 90mm. I can spend a whole day shooting with the 35mm & 75mm and cover everything I need. I find the 90mm more a special purpose lens and the 75mm more general purpose.

If you ever decide to use the 75mm you can always use an external vf. I do agree that the 135mm frameline is largely a waste.

Wow, I'm impressed! Seems to be a lottery, though. I got my Leica IIIc back a month and three weeks after I sent it.

The 135 framelines...there will be a time, you'll see ( ::evil chuckle:: )

But if you get the 135 Elmarit, it has the (annoying) goggles, so if you have the 90mm framelines, you'll be just fine.
 
Nachkebia: If you're going to do the darkroom right, and I assume you're wanting the best, then find a Leica IIc enlarger. It is a stunning piece of engineering. Surprised? My prints from the one I just installed are second to none. The Leica Focotars (there are 2 lenses) are SHARP edge to edge. And the darn thing stays in focus throughout the enlarging range. I've retired my Beseler 23C and Omega D2 since coming across the IIc. I estimate that were this enlarger made today it would cost ~ $5000!

Very funny thing happened to me! I have just received my M7 from DAG everything seems great, removed 70 and 90 frame lines plus cleaned and corrected rangefinder but guess what? I forgot to mention MP finder 😀 😀 it still flares! well... I guess I have to send back again 😀
