Im rather confused on bessa r2 prices right now. I need something to replace the hole in my bag that 3 faulty zeiss ikon's could not.
I have seen black bessa r2's go on ebay for as little as 225 to as much a 518 recently and a few so so ones for about 410. The one that went for 518 was well used too with lots of paint chips and some other wear. What the heck? What should I expect to spend on user r2?

I saw that $500+ R2 go and I have no earthly idea why it went for so much!
If I were on the market for one, I think I would hold out for the $325-$375 range...based on following prices here and on the auction site for a few weeks.

Yikes that much? Thats almost 4 weeks pay for me here. Um...ill hold off until I can find one maybe in the range of 250, it already took me a year and a half to save for the zeiss ikon, dont want to blow it all on the bessa.

There's always the R. I went that way for the economy.
Cameraquest is advertising a mint silver R for $199.

Seems like the R2 is a great combination of features: mechanical shutter, magnesium body and M-mount, and apparently made in fewer numbers than the R; the closest equivalence would be the limited edition R3M, the Heliar 50/2 is definitely an attraction but the extra premium can be less attractive if you are after a camera for day-to-day use without worrying about keeping it in pristine condition.
The R2 I bought recently on eBay cost me A$430 in excellent condition is a bargain, even though the RF needs straightening up. If it is to prove as trouble-free as my R then it would indeed be a fine investment for a tool which is going to go the distance.

the r2 seems to be as close as im going to get to a m mount body right now, other things going on here that dont allow me to go anything more and I dont want a r2a or a r2m because its more then I want to spend. I will just hold out for a 250 USD one on ebay to pop up again. How hard is it to adjust the rangefinder yourself?

I've recently bought my R2 in olive colour (I love that colour) from a well known seller in Hong Kong. The list price is HKD3380. Since I bought the 35mm/f2.5 Colour Skopar as well, the seller gave me a bit discount thou. It may be a good deal for a brand new one and no tax involved here as well.
