Seriously though, this decision is a no-brainer. Film is dead - I would definately go with the DSLR. I personally shoot Nikon because I have a lot of lenses left over from my film cameras, but if I were building a system from scratch I would definately go with a Pentax K10D and get a bunch of pancake lenses. Check this out:
K10D body = 28 oz with battery and SD card
21mm f/3.2 = 5.5 oz with hood
40mm f/2.8 = 3.2 oz
70mm f/2.4 = 4.6 oz
That's a grand total of 41.3 oz, which equates to roughly 2.58 pounds.

And the cherry on top? All the lenses would have anti-shake since it's built into the camera.
