I have returned from the dead...

Hi guys!

I have no idea if you will even remember me or not, but I have returned! It looks like some things have changed, but not a lot. I will probably just lerk as I did before. I am not really that into rangefinders (I do have one, but I have also spent awhile increasing my Canon system), but I enjoy the site and all of the comments and things that you can learn.

Penguin: a hearty "welcome back". Back from the dead? No, we'll just say you were on an intergalactic cruise...

DMR: like your new avatar. Same hair color, too (and is the "D" really for Daria?)

Welcome back.

Aren't you the one who used to have another photo board?

Yes, but my time and energy ran out to try and keep it going. It is still there (www.americanphotographyforum.com) and I try and keep the spam out, but otherwise it is dead.

I now put most of what little extra energy I have into the other site which is not a fourm, but a gallery. It is made through the open source Gallery2 software/structure and has a lot of neat things you can work with. (I am not trying to sell it anything (it's open source), but give credit where it is due.)

Welcome back!

I just installed Gallery2 on my site yesterday. I figure it's the last thing I'll try before going to a paid site like smugmug.

Well I like it, but I am cheap so I won't pay for something else. :)

The only problem that I had is changing the banner to your own banner. I could not find a place to do that in the control pannel. I ended up just changing the code to the banner that I wanted and it has worked fine.

Edit: Also if you use Windows, look into the prgram/plug in which will allow you to open the folder with the pictures and click on the "Publish this Folder to the Web" link on the left side of the folder. It is a lot easier than the other ways that I have worked with.

LOL, no, it's really Denise (formally) or Dee (informally) but people call me Annie for short. (long story) :)

However, and I still wonder if I should take this as a compliment or not, two of my co-workers keep telling me I resemble Daria, particularly since I changed my hair style. (I don't dare show them any photos from the 70's when I did have the big Baba-Wawa glasses, because even I see the resemblance then.) I do think I have more social skills than Daria, but I do have two brothers who in their high school days could rival Beavis and Butt-head as far as antics go! :)

Reason I chose that particular icon is that's one of the few Daria drawings that really shows any self-esteem. ("I don't have low self-esteem, just low esteem for everybody else." -- Daria) :)

Uh-huh, that's the one I rememeber. I admit I quit dropping in there when the activity died.

URL? I'll be sure to drop by. :) (I apologize if you already posted it, but I don't see it.)

The gallery is www.howellphoto.net.

Please let me know how the speed is. I am running it in the lan here so it is fast, but I am not sure about outside the intranet.

FHHS, huh?

(I used to live in STL for a while, back in another life, but you don't remember that, do you?) :) :) :)

Of course not.

I was born in St. Charles and grew up in Troy, Mo. Where is Francis Howell, some where in the fog of my ancient mind I remember that name.

It's in the St Charles vicinity, somewhere west of the river, IIRC. Reason I remember it was that I and some of my friends used to go to this teen nightclub just east of the airport and kids from St Charles would go there too.

It is on highway 94 and highway D in the southern part of St. Charles County. You may remember the ordinance works which was built on the grounds of the school and three other towns. The school got the land back in the late 40s and is there today. In the late 80s and early 90s there was a lot of rumors that went around the school (most through parents) that there was nuclear waste throughout the school. They then spent millions to build a large nuclear containment cell to keep the waste. If you look at a map of St. Charles County, you will see this big white dot looking area, the school is to the side of that.

Seems like there was the old TNT plant down there along HWY 61. I left so long ago my memory has faded somewhat. St. Charles had a population of around 14 to 15 thousand when I left home. Look at it now. I couldn't begin to guess how many souls live there.
