My wife is very supportive of me or so she tells me.

My daughter tells me that this is my wife's true view of me and my affliction:

My family told me last night, when I said that I wanted to use the money from selling my D200 to buy an Imacon film scanner, that I needed therapy. "It's just got to stop"
 
We spent Saturday clearing out the spare bedroom. What with the two bags full of unused cameras and lenses and the three large archive boxes of mostly unused guitar effects plus the seven or eight (I forget) guitars and the three guitar amps I never use, I don't think I'm exactly flavour of the month :)
 
My wife has been very supportive and tells me to just do it. I have a tendency to over research before I buy a big ticket item. Of course her love of jewelry makes me cringe but what can I do?
 
She never knew the total sum I spent until now :rolleyes::angel:.
However, yesterday she said that prefers me to buy cameras instead of hearing me talking about them and how I missed the ebay auction and whether is better an old M2 or a new Bessa and should I buy a d50 with a prime or a pentax with a Limited lens and and and....:D
 
Very supportive! After seeing me use the iiic for a few years she bought me a black M6 and 50mm Summilux for my birthday 4 years ago. I gave a Kiev 4 to a friend for Christmas '06 and she said "it won't be long until you have one, will it?" OK honey, one is on its way right now. :angel:

Oh yeah, I sold a bunch of music and woodworking gear recently too. Cleaning house to stick with one hobby.

Columnist Dave Barry said, "There's a fine line between 'hobby' and mental illness." Just trying to stay a bit further away from the line...

But, seriously, if I were to tally up the amount of money my wfe spends on clothing, particulary on shoes, I'd be willing to bet that she'd be dropping more dollars on herself than me on myself... try that angle fellas.

my gf is a photographer who has dreams of leica just like me, so later it could be a problem because I will have one first and she will steal it.
 
Cooly neutral, I'm afraid. But it is slowly improving. We're in better financial condition these past few years, but during the years when things were tight, my photo spending caused some tension.

Sounds very familiar, my wife actually let me live by myself for a few months while I eeked out a living with photography.:)

My wife is more of the plaintive sigh and eyerolling school in communicating her feelings about my photography. I recently floated the idea of an M8 past her. Her response was, "if you redo my kitchen, then go ahead, but first why don't you sell all those old cameras and other junk in your office." :eek: So close, and yet so far!;)
