if you look in the gallery, you will see that each of your photos has been uploaded 3 times.
load into your member gallery only and once loaded, then, move them to where ever else you want them.

Thanks Joe It shows, I guess, that I never figured out how that uploading stuff really works.

It's not as they call it a "user-friendly" process. And there is no FAQ on how to do it, it is a matter of hacking around until it happens. I spent hours and managed to get some uploaded, but became so frustrated with the process that I pulled them all. You'll note that I have no gallery. Others have suggested off-site gallery space as a better solution, and there are more than a few.
