I'm know this has been covered a lot before, but I can't figure it out. I'm a new Flickr user. I'm trying to use Flickr's BBcode to post images to the Gallery, using the Gallery's URL upload link. I can use the BBcode to upload images to an RFF forum, but not to the Gallery.
The Gallery upload error message says I've exceeded the max allowed file size, no matter what image (small to large) I try to link. I've checked the file size to be sure it does not exceed the limit. I've also tried and failed uploading an image to the Gallery via Flickr's Share and Embed links. Not sure what to try next. Any ideas where I've messed up?

I just had it explained to me. Open the picture in Flickr, click on the curved arrow and select BBCode, copy the url and paste it to the message window in RFF. That will do it.

Sorry, but a portion of my original message didn't appear above, so I've fixed that at least! Darthfeeble, I've tried that but that's where I'm having trouble. Here's more process info: I'm trying to link an image from my Flickr camera roll to the Gallery, by copying the BBcode. The image is a private image on Flickr, but I made it a public image to experiment and had the same result. I'm usually not this bad at this stuff!

I just barely learned the regular way, I'm sure others will chime in.

Here's my recipe:
1) Click on the photo in Flickr.
2) In the lower right corner of the photo, click on the downward pointing arrow.
3) In the list that pops up, click on "View all sizes"
4) In the photo, Control click (for Mac) [or right click for PC?], and select "Copy Image Location"
5) Return to RFF. "Paste" wherever you want to place the photo. I'm usually pasting photos into threads, so I first click on the little yellow landscape symbol in the Quick Reply area. That pops up a box in which I paste the image.

Tried that at several file sizes, still not working for the Gallery. Does work for posting into threads. Here's the error message I get from the Gallery uploader when I use "copy image location" for a small-sized image.
"File: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50780659522_f33b96a854_w.jpg is 0 bytes. This exceeds the max allowed file size of 500000 bytes. Skipping upload."

This is very strange, the file size on the linked photo is 33.4Kb which is under the RFF Gallery limit of 50Kb. So it should work. Sorry I don't have a solution.
Meanwhile why not make a copy on your computer that's under 50Kb and "upload from file". That's what I do.

That’s what I’ll do, Lynn. I was hoping to be able to do this directly from Flickr and skip that extra step, but, whatever. I’d still like to figure this out, though, if anyone has an idea.

The Gallery is different to threads. The limit is 488kb or very slightly more. I post 350kb usually. I think posting a jpg from your hard drive is the only way to put a picture in the Gallery.

Ahh, that could explain it. The images I’ve been trying to post from Flickr are smaller than the gallery size limitation. It would be worth knowing if it’s just not possible to post directly to the Gallery, as you can to a thread. Maybe a moderator could chime if they see this. Thanks Richard.
