Dammit mine hasn't arrived yet. 🙁 Maybe I was a bit too hasty ordering from elsewhere but I did get an out of stock notice. Anyway it sounds good and I'm looking forward to getting mine. 🙂 I have a childhood friend from Europe visiting NYC in April and that's when I'll visit the ICP as well I think.
 
That slate article was great. I think I saw one in nytimes recently too.

My copy of Scrapbook (from UK amazon) finally arrived today. It's great. I love the display of the uncropped "decisive moment" puddle photograph. I'm often nervous about cropping, feeling like somehow I failed to frame it correctly (especially in street stuff), but this makes me feel a lot better. It looks like a great book, and the commentary is very readable and informative.
 
Mine arrived a while back and I haven't been able to look at it properly yet but I already have a couple of HCB books and I'm glad to see stuff in the Scrapbook that is not in the others.
 
I went to this exhibit a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was great. My favorite thing about it was seeing the shots that weren't as great. Often you would see two or three different angles of the shot that is now famous. It's good to know that many of the shots that HCB took were, just like many of ours, completely normal and not great masterpieces. I actually felt better about my own photography after having seen the exhibit.

Oh, and the DVD they play there is really nice. They don't sell it there but am looking forward to getting it. It's basically a simple slide show but the narration by HCB is really interesting.

If any NYC folks decide to meet up, let me know. It's defintiely worth seeing again. And remember, it's open late on Friday's and by donation after 5!
 
I finally went yesterday (Sunday). Absolutely worth it. Can't put it into words right now (I know...if not now, when?). If you can somehow manage it, definitely go.

Yes, you can carry a camera in, but you can't use it, with or without flash. Same deal with cell phones. Coat/bag check is optional for the exhibit area; bag-check mandatory for the ICP store.

um... guess so. Ya gotta check your bag/coat. No prob with cameras. At least with those of the M persuasion...😉

Ah...so you weren't the dude I saw there last Sunday with the honkin' big, be-zoomed 1Ds...

If you're stealthy, I guess you can get away with taking a snap or two, but I'd just be careful. And, absoluitely shut that phone ringer off!
