Just purchased a Summaron 35/2.8 with goggle from the famous bid web. Mainly it will be used with my M3, but will it also fit M5? just curious.

Thanks in advance,

Robin

What are "goggles" on your Sumaron 35 f2.8? I here of "goggles" on older lenses......but I am not familiar with what they are. A photo maybe? Thanks.

Eyeglasses for RF window

Eyeglasses for RF window

A goggled lens is one with eyeglasses or"Eyes" which are a viewfinder attachment built into the lens which converted the 50 frame on the M3 to a 35 viewing field in the case of the Summaron.

One would have to assume that the 35mm lens designed for the M3 would also bring up the 50mm frame on the M5. No? Yes? Only one way to find out. Slap it on there!

Thanks for all replies and info. I will have a try after receive it. Tt doesn't matter if can't fit on M5. I bought it for my m3. Anyway I will report the result here later.

Please tell us your findings. I would like to know as I have an M5 also.

Sure. The lens is supposed to come in 10 days. Will update here my findings after it arrives...🙄

If the rangefinder and viewfinder windows and lens mount on the M5 have the same relative position as they do on the M3, then it will work. The lens should bring up the 50mm framelines, and the goggles will optically adjust the rangefinder and viewfinder for the 35mm focal length.

Thanks you! Just what I needed. Another lens to look for! Share the results from this wonderful combination! Oh my, it's very close to the same vintage as my DR Summicron. Black goggles too. Tres chic!

Also works on M6

Also works on M6

I slapped mine on my M6(thanks Nickb), and it worked just fine. It does pull up the 50 frame line, but the eyes work like on the M3. It expands visually the frame line to fit. Pretty accurate on both the M6 and M3.
