I have just gotten back a roll of Fuji NPS 160 taken by the Voightlaender Prominent and the Skoparon lens. There may be a problems with the shutter curtains as I can see a faint white stripe of each image. Overall, the Skoparon seems to be of high optical quality. I like the overall rendition with this old 35mm lens.

Definately some serious potential there. Now we need some pics from a 100/4.5 Dynaron... ;)

Thanks for sharing these, Raid.

William: The 100/4.5 lens sold recently for a low price, but I saw today a 150 lens go for over $300. I am always on a quest for a different look with old lenses. The Skoparon is a very nice lens indeed.

The Prominent has a leaf shutter, not a focal-plane one. So, no curtains. Faint straight line stripes may be a processing or printing problem.

Anyway, all Voigtlander lenses for the Prominent, and the Vitessa T, are keepers -- the Skoparon (and Skoparet) especially.

cheers,

David

David: Thanks! What a great comment. I rather have a slightly marked roll of film than having to repair the camera.

What is a Skoparet? A feminine Skoparon?

Thanks partly to Raid, I am starting to feel the allure of the Voigtlander Prominent. My main interest is an "affordable" platform for the Nokton 50/1.5, but clearly the other lenses are pretty decent as well.

Raid,

Some of the lenses for the Prominent were made for the Vitessa T. The mounts are different, however, so the names are a bit different. The 3 similar lenses (that I know of) are:

35mm: Skoparon (f3.5, Prominent), Skoparet (f3.4, Vitessa T)
100mm: Dynaron (f4.5, Prominent), Dynaret (f4.8, Vitessa T)
135mm: Super-Dynaron (f4, Prominent), Super-Dynaret (f4, Vitessa T)

Despite the speed differences, I think the optics are the same for both mounts.

The only 50mm made for the Vitessa T was the 50/2.8 Color-Skopar, which is too bad because, while it is OK, the Ultron and Nokton for the Prominent are better.

cheers,

David

David: I would not endorse the Prominent unless I really believed it to be an excellent camera. Like you, I first thought of the Nokton lens, and I considered selling the Prominent, but now I am glad that I did not do it. Just the opposite; I may buy another Prominent so that one gets B&W and one gets color.
