Hi

Sorry if this topics already been debated to death.

Got my M8 back from Solms and just wondered what the update consisted of, is it hardware and software? What faults is it supposed to have cured?

Getting some lovely shots with it, I was before the update so no direct comparison. Nice colours, but I've started selecting WB manually.

Not noticed any Magenta yet -does anyone know when the IR filters are due?

Thanks for your help

(Still loving my M8, only now it's a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder after it's holiday in Germany)

I think some folks in Germany have their filters now. should be soon. Have a Noctilux that is unuseable for inside stuff until the 60 mm IR filter gets here. As well as a 75 /1.4 with same problem.

According to LFI they added a "minor connector in an inaccesible place" and updated the firmaware and tested the camera. And "all initial errors have been zapped".

I bought one of the slightly later batch (post 27th nov) supposedly with the upgrade. Comparing it with the demo camera that I borrowed I think the white ballance is better. I never did manage to elicit the banding problems. Also I have not managed to elicit the magenta problem with my own M8 but did get a few impressive colour casts with the dealer demo version. Has this been improved?
All we need now is a bit of good UK spring sunshine!

I received my M8 Friday, after charging the battery, I ran some tests with AWB and found it to be working better than my D200 AWB. So far It has been worth the money with very good colors, and only one or two shots with magenta. I have ordered 2 IR filters from a local camera store and also the 2 from Leica. I hope the ones form Leica don't take forever getting here, and the ones orderd loacally should get here this week I hope, although not a big problem so far.
