B&H had two separate batches of them in the past week that sold out in a matter of hours. No idea how many were in each batch. What I think may have happened is that way back last year a lot of people put orders in at a small number of dealers (in the USA), making their lists longer than other dealers'. If Leica isn't apportioning them according to who has the longest list, some dealers may still have waiting lists while other dealers don't. I only have spoken to one dealer, who is not one of the "internet favorites", and he told me quite some time ago that most of his waiting list cancelled by the time official word came from Leica of the IR filter requirement. He told me last week there were a few who decided recently to accept the filters and buy their M8 after all, but are now holding off now due to all the reports of DOA's. My dealer calls the M8 "the worst German wreck since the Hindenburg" he's so steamed...but hey, you know what they say about counting your chickens before they're hatched.

Ken is a great guy, but can be difficult to reach. I got ahold of him in Palm Beach on vacation and he sent me filters from there. Must be nice! Keep trying, he'll get back with you.

It must be a very fast moving train wreck as they don't seem to stay in stock very long anywhere.

I twice anounced last week on the Leica User Forum that my dealer in Madison had a black M8 in stock and listed the phone number. That was 5 days ago and they didn't receive a single call about it. I'm thinking the market has been fairly satisfied by now. A month ago that camera would have been sold in an hour.
