Problem with Kodak's Free Portra film

I am 2/3 through a 36-exp roll of NC400, when I noticed that the camera (set to DX) had automatically set the iso at 100! Never had that problem with this particular camera, so it may be the film. Is it possible that these cartidges are not DX-coded (iso 100 is the camera default setting)? Anyone elso notice this?

If you do use the film with a camera with automatic DX film speed setting, be sure to watch out for this.

Ray the film isn't 400ASA. Both the VC & NC cassettes I have are DX coded. I just put the NC cassette into an M7 on DX and it is giving me the correct reading of 160ASA in the VF. Maybe your cam doesn't have a reading for 160 so it's displaying (and working on) the nearest value?

That was what I was hoping for, since the 120 film was iso 160 VC. The 35mm rolls I received were, however, 400NC.

The 160NC I put in my 1N worked fine, as 160. Then again, modern(ish) SLR's are like computers with a shutter and a lens mount, and they put tons of settings into them.

I had to think....Yes, yes I do have a camera (2 actually) that read DX coding.

Normally I just screw up the rating myself.

Yeah. I shot a roll of 120 Portra through my aged autocord and a lightmeter and all was well. Sometimes, less is more.

OK sorry Ray - I didn't realize Kodak were shipping different speeds of the film.
