Here we go again, another first shots thread. Overall I find the camera to be ok for a cheap alternative to a m7, I hate how it doesn't hang right, what moron designed it to hang backwards? I will be looking for the hang grip asap... Also I think the camera over exposes a wee bit, will be shooting the next roll on -.5
Lenses used were the odd Cosina/Epson RD1 2004 35 2.5 pancake II look alike lens I got and the Leitz 50 3.5 elmar red scale. Over all impressions of the lenses were positive. The Cosina lens is a good performer with wildly high contrast that can be a good and bad thing. The lens seems to be pretty sharp, and for the money not too bad. The Leitz lens is amazing, its performance is very very close to the Cosina lens, just a hair less contrasty but I dare say it renders images with a lot more sparkle then the Cosina lens, that said the Cosina lens is no slouch, its really great, but I can see where the Leitz will be better for the bw stuff I usually do.
Film used was Fuji Superia 400

(I wonder why they left that one house sitting there?)

Wow! nothing wrong with those shots - they look great. I suppose the Yashica Electro 35 GSN will be put out to pasture now? Post some B&Ws soon so we can have a look at those as well. (envious)

nope, the yashica will still see some action, I just got plans thats all. Also working on some projects, first being marrying a argus lens and my 20d, a old kodak folder lens to my 20D and a yashica gsn lens to leica m mount!

Hi Avotius
Just loved the picture of the bikes - great shot. Wish I had taken it.
Looks a pretty good combination of lenses and camera.

Hello Avotius,
Very, very nice pictures. I also would like to ask how you digitalized the negatives. It is now more than half a year I'm thinking about the purchase of a scanner, perhaps a dedicated film scanner or a flatbed scanner equiped for film scanning.

some taken in seattle, some taken in chongqing
I scanned the negatives on a Fuji S9500 Scanner station, one of these: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/photofinishing/dmlab_frontier375.html It does an ok job, on close close inspection it adds some chromatic aberration and some strange digital noise patterns to the images though, but thats only at large magnifications that it becomes really apparent, regardless its good enough to scan a 6x6 at max resolution to print 50 inches spitting out a 40 mb bmp
