I picked up a Canon 50mm 095 TV lens at a local flea market today. I have heard of people converting this lens to Leica M-mount and was wondering if the conversion included rf coupling to the Leica?

If this can be done can anybody recommend who can do this job and a ballpark cost??

Colyn, someone on PNet in a recent thread had this conversion done, and mentioned the person/shop that did it.

I wonder if this is something our Brian Sweeney would tackle.

Found the thread..it appears that the person who did the conversion is hard to contact.

I found this lens at the flea market for $5 in a junk box and since I already had one for my Canon 7 I got it in the hopes that it could be converted to the M-mount.

Hopefully I'll be able to locate someone who can do it..

Note that the addition of the coupling ring to the rear of the lens usually loses some lens speed. But people don't really buy this lens for just raw speed, they also buy it for the distinctive look of the pictures. (Why else would they be buying neutral density filters and using it outdoors wide open...)

Thanks for the info. I will be contacting them for more information.

I wish I could rent this lens somewhere. It sure would be fun to play with for a few days. :D

This is the right place at the right time. It happens. I picked up a Nikon M unsync with a Sonnar for under $500 at a local flea market/antique store. I was extremely happy. 6 Months later, found a Nikon M sync'd with 5cm F1.4 lens for $30, from a different dealer 20ft from the other. What are the odds?

I picked up a non-working M3 at a local flea market for $15. DAG has it at present. Will cost $290 for overhaul. The same dealer also had a IIIc with Elmar in good working order for $10. Needless to say I snatched it up before the guy looking over my shoulder had a chance to claim it.. A few weeks later I got a Canon IIb with 50 from the same dealer for $10..

I'm going to Canton Tx trade days this weekend. Hopefully I'll come across more good deals..

Yup... Just keep telling them that Film is Dead and everyone uses Digital in the 21st Century. Take that "junk" off their hands, doing them a favor!

I usually hear from the seller that the film cameras are no longer usable since film is not being made anymore..
