do you flickr pro?

I keep a tight reign on what I have listed as public, private or for friends and family.

That is an important thing to keep in mind if you are posting any photos anywhere on the web. I have had a Flickr account for a couple of years. My Pro account expired a while ago and I need to pay to renew it. I find the Flickr Uploader utility to be very easy to use.

I do it mainly for easy access to my images when I need or want to showcase my pictures from other places such as ebay or here on RFF.

It's worth the cost.

It's $25 bucks a year, thats the cheapest damn deal I have ever seen to get good exposure and upload umlimited photo's. My website hosting cost's me $25 a month.

I can use it to host photo's of events I have taken where people can look and choose what photo's they want printed. It saves me and my customers heaps of time. I rate flick very highly. I love checking out other peoples creative work and talking to them about it too.

And I also use a pro flickr account for archival purposes. But I also use it to share photos with family and friends with tight control on my list of contacts. I do wish I could specify per user access priviledges but the four levels (private, family, friends, all) are usually enough.

I have a Flickr free account but I don't like very much the way the photos are displayed and I find the interface clumsy. That's why I use Zenfolio as an online backup for all my pictures.

scottgee, you set privelleges on your photos so either they are a) viewable by all (public) b) friends only c) familly only d) friends and familly only..and this is set when you upload but you can also change this when they have been uploaded.

scottgee, as DMG says, photos are given access according to type of contact. If a family member has a flickr account, you indicate that this member is "family" and then this person can see any of your photos that are visible to family members. Only flickr members that you indicate have a particular relationship with you will have access. Straightforward and quite painless!

I actually prefer the flickr interface to most other photo sites I have encountered. But YMMV!

Did you even get a load of the type of people complaining in that thread? Check out the guy who started the group - his flickr account is full of images of other people's paintings and signs.. Don't take that crap seriously..

i've been using flickr pro for a long time now.

There are two things i'm not entirely in love with.

once you start using it, you can't really stop, as all of your photos are on there and you lose access to them if you are not pro.

also, a passworded set is a really good feature to have. i wish flickr had it

Me, too. I rather neglect my Flickr account - it takes me so much time: to upload, and to write the captions - but it's handy for posting (linking) images, like, say, here. 🙂

And it keeps me visually up-to-date with what my daughter in Halifax. That's worth the $25 alone.
