Well, I was working on the basis that it was neither. The NKVD would not be so obvious. I think it's the balloon animal with bunny ears at the back.

Ian thank you so much for that enlightening article. It reminded me of something from my childhood when it was believed that the world's hunger would be solved by large rabbits, giant tomatoes and so on. What they, and Kim, failed to appreciate is the food to weight equation. If you have a big rabbit, it needs more food than a small one. In energy consumption terms it is the same as two small ones. Which is no doubt why a disillusioned Kim popped it in the stewpot.
