The origional 15mm from the Conterax wide angle end of production parts had a pukka leitz m mount and is well expensive. The Contax G 16mm will be a cannibal.
The box says Contax G, not Leitz...
One wonders why the ZI crowd did not 'clone' the Conterax.

I have the G2 brochure in front of me and it clearly states that the Hologon T 16mm f8 comes in G Mount.

The cap says Contax but the body looks like one of those purple M8 things.

It's a conversion from "G" mount to M mount.

Ok the serial number is a G Hologon, but they might have attached it to the m8 with super glue or blue tack, hey I could try that...

Stephen Gandy mentions this and the 21 Biogon G as being available modified to M. But needing a viewfinder regardless of body why would you choose the M over the G?

there is a company in Japan, it does modification of all G lens to M mount, it is not news in the East, the company has a web page, in Japanese of course:

At some point Zoerk in Germany also did conversions. I am sure they did before the CV 15/4.5 came along and the 16 was the envy of all Leica M owners. Once the CV 15/4.5 was out, there were companies converting this one to Contax G, because it was still cheaper and faster. That's live for you.

The 16mm & 21mm G's were the reason I went with the G2 ten years ago. Also why I kept the whole system until very recently. With the CV's & ZM's on the very wide end it became redundant. Still a great system.
