I want to place an ad but India has no Paypal. I asked by e-mail 22 hours back for the details if I were to ask someone in the US to send a cheque. No answer yet.

who/where did you ask?

and to be clear, what are you asking? for someone stateside to pay for the ad and then you would pay them?

A quick response. Thank you.

I wrote to rangefinderforum@gmail.com. My message did not bounce back. Perhaps the address is not checked frequently.

I will have a friend send, on my behalf, a US dollar cheque to the address I am given and for the figure I am given. When it is OK to place the ad, I shall place it. Roundabout, but this is the best option open to me.

The other alternative is to send the ad and the photos to a friend in Ireland who is also an RFF member. He logs in as me, places the ad, and then pays through Paypal, presumably becoming himself for the purpose. He will do this gladly, but I don't want to take so much of his time.

in order to simplify payments, classified ad payments are only accepted through Paypal. no other payment forms are accepted.

if your friend wants to place the ad for you, that's fine

but a classified ad payment by one member will not be credited to another member due to staff time constraints.

My clients normally pay by PayPal. And perhaps I thought (like RFF?) that this covered everybody.

But no. I have a client in Colombia who cannot use PayPal. The drop down list of countries on the PayPal site comprises only about 50 countries, but there are almost 200 countries around the world.

Sure PayPal covers a lot of countries, although not all.

My wife is even better, she has me load and unload the dishwasher!

B2 (;->

Mine even has me make them dirty (cooking) and then put them in.
But hey, Stephanie didn't say that she put them in the dishwasher with her own hands !

Anyone know of a non criminal way of putting in a plug for Photo.Net classified 682652? Adding it to my signature seems somehow distasteful.

I suppose I could do that, Erik: but, as I said, it seems distasteful. It's not as if I want something for nothing. I could always try to persuade someone -- hint, hint -- to give me a Heads Up. While I can understand that RFF will have its reasons to want to streamline operations, it is likely that that leaves many people out in the cold.

What are you selling?

You forgot to mention prices.;)

Well, then this would turn into a classified ad in the forums and not allowed.

But yes, I did just see that at PNet in the Leica & Rangefinder Classified section payasam. ;)

As Rover says, Erik, that would be like trying to place an ad by the back door. With e-mail I could send attachments, not possible (I think) with PMs.

Thought I spotted a precedent and might also cheat. But, no luck. Clarence, who has a "for sale" line in his signature, directs the reader to a legitimate classified ad. Damn and blast. Frustration is not pleasant.

Don't know why I fretted. Sean Moran placed the ad for me in a jiffy. He's also responsible in part for the outrageous pricing.
