Dear all,

This will be my first contribution to the forum, I hope not the last one.

I am lucky enought to go to Beijing in a few days. I hope to take color films (35mm) with me but I cannot decide which one.

As I usually load my cameras with b&w, I feel like a kid in a toy shop: Kodak, Fuji, Rollei, then Pro or not Pro with C or S in 100 or 160 and why not 400 ISO. I forgot the NPC or NPS.....

I can figure out the ISO challenge but the rest is :bang:

Any advice?

I shoot two color films, and really only two: the Fuji Superia line of consumer films and then the Kodak Professional Ultra Color 100 and 400. I like both, but the Superia costs a lot less.

The first thing to decide would be whether you want slides (transparencies) or not. Slides cost more, have less exposure latitude, and often do not print as well as colour negative film. I'll leave stage 2 to the other members.

If you're going to Bejing you may look up some of the last Agfa Ultra 100 available- several sellers on ebay are there, this is the finest color print film ever (for me anyhow)

Thanks to all.

I think I will go with negatives and not slides, not familiar with them.

Fuji will be my choice but cannot find what is the difference between them (Superia Press, Pro C/H/S/Z...).

Unless I find some Agfa Superia 100. I guess it is now or never.

Fuji is and has always been my first choice. Whenever I used either Kodak or Agfa, they appeared to me of lesser quality. Which Fuji ? It is of lesser importance to the former choice.

For me the print film quality has almost always been swamped by the effects of the printing process. If the minilab is set up for kodak, fuji can look fowl or vice versa.
That said, get kodak UC400 in a multi pack from CVS.. it's awesome.

Fuji Reala is fantastic, and the Superia range do a good job. As mentioned by Clintock, the minilab can make a big difference too.

Thanks to all of you.
I ordered some Fuji Pro 160 C. No chance to get fresh Agfa.
Hope to find a good minilab.

I will let you know the results in a few weeks.
