I'd wager taking the $$ saved going with another brand and putting it into some kind of investment would yield more $$ in the end than whatever amount the Leica lens appreciates.

Yeah I don't think buying NEW Leica lenses now is much of an investment. It will be decades before you may break even.

A new Noctilux 50 .95 now sells for $12,500.
A used minty one just sold on this site a few days ago for $6000.
