1.25x Leica Magnifier..Quick Ques.

Hi All,

Just a brief Question. When the Leica 1.25x MAgnifier eyepiece is used with the M8, does one screw the magnifier directly into the already existing eyepiece on the M8..or do you first remove the original M8 eyepiece and then screw in the Leica 1.25x maginifier. I just want to make sure as to not intoruce any possible focusing errors into the system. Thanks!

It screws directly onto the existing eyepiece. I just got one two days ago, and it is great. Very small, and very useful for the lens I use - 50mm f2 Summicron.

I very much appreciate your prompt reply. I was almost certain that it screwed directly onto the already mounted original M8 eyepiece, especially since the original M8 eyepiece seems to be thread-locked into place. Still I thought it was better to ask.

I throughly enjoyed looking at your website (impressive images).... especially as I have been a long time shooter of wildlife (D2x and other systems).

There maybe some confusion here. The rear of the permanent eyepiece of the camera is threaded to take accessories. Those can be for example, a magnifier or diopter correction lens.
If you are already using a correction lens you remove it from the camera eyepiece, screw the magnifier onto the camera and then add the correction lens to the rear of the leica magnifier. Be warned, not all of the non Leica magnifiers on ebay will accept the screw in diopter correction lenses. If you need a variable or intermediate correction, adjustable magnifiers are available from Megaperls in Japan http://www.unicircuits.com/shop/index.php?cPath=22&osC If you are in a country where patent restrictions apply email and ask the seller what this implies. My eyes have very limited accommodation and I find the adjustment on their 1.35x magnifier invaluable.
