1.25x Magnifier Blurred

I picked up 1.25x magnifier a while back to use with the M9 when shooting the Nokton 50/1.1 wide open. The problem is that the viewfinder becomes blurry when I attach it. This happens whether I use my eyeglasses or not. I suspect it can be corrected with a diopter but, since I cannot use my eyeglass correction to use as a guide I'm not sure where to start. I really don't want to mail order all the various diopter lenses to try them out one by one. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you correct it?

I used 1.25 and 1.4X stacked up together when I was testing my 135mm lenses. I could still see clearly with my glasses on. Something must have happened to the magnifier.

With my luck that is entirely possible, but what could possibly "happen" to make this magnifier blurred?

Sometimes they unscrew themselves and get reassembled incorrectly.
