I need to unwind. I don't drink (anymore anyway), don't do drugs-except valium prn which doesn't do anything. I was thinking of taking a day off from work, leave my cell phone and family home, maybe even take public transportation 😱 , and take 1 M3, 1 lens, 1 roll of 400cn, and an exposure card and take some pics. I'm thinking the VC 21mm or the 35 Summaron. That'll be my big decision. Stu

I'd grab the Summaron... and twice the film you think you'll need. That is, four rolls.

I wish I could do the same... but I live in a small town, and I'm immune to its charms already.

Have a nice day!

Summaron. 🙂 And have fun !! It is my usual shooting style, BTW. (I mostly use public transportaion since I don`t own a car anymore 😱)

you could always challenge yourself and make it extra interesting by doing the opposite and taking a camera and lens that you don't think you want to take and see what you get.

shoot your m3 but take only a long lens (90? 135?)
a fixed lens with some old expired film?
got a tlr?

I thought of that. I have an uncoated elmar 9cm circa 1934! Never tried it though. That might be a plan! On the other hand, I have to finish installing a window for my Mom. It'll probably take me all of 1/2 hour but I'm too damn lazy today to get motivated.

Ah that sounds great.. But I'd take two rolls of something you can develop yourself (tri-x/HP5+). When your done shooting take yourself and the film to Photomanhattan or ABC Norio and develop it yourself. Make a contact sheet and there you have it, you've taken the process from begining to end.

One more bit, start the day with a fresh roll. In fact, don't even load the film until you've left the apt.

take the 35..leave the cannoli

Not me. That's Shane Macgowan from the Pogues. Talented but has a slight alcohol and substance problem. Stu
I´ve wandered before if that avatar of yours wasn´t Shane McGowan. It was so sad seeing that man falling down! They were a great band, The Pogues! SMG, a great performer, singer and lyrics writer!

I was a music journalist in the 80s, at the concerts we´d play "spot the missing Pogue" among us - often one of them too drunk to perform.

Stories like his and quite a few other gifted people have made it a lot easier to let the stuff be for longer periods of time.

The CV 21 is great! I´d take that.

There have been Shane spottings, and he does usually hit the NYC area once a year. He still plays in Europe with the Popes and last I heard he was doing a reunion tour with the Pogues. Too late today for my plan. Guess I'll do Mom's window. Stu

That´s good to hear! I saw some pics of him a while ago (some time after the first Popes album - I know only one, come to think of it ...). A reunion tour sounds like barrels of fun, sober or not. 😀

This is pretty much how I shoot 80% of the time. One lens, one camera, one film. When I travelled to Prague one summer I followed this practice and was completely happy with the results. No regrets over missed shots because I didn't have the "right" lens.
