Although many of you are already fans of Stephen Gandy of Camera Quest, I just want to say that I recently joined the crowd of proud C/V lens users and purchased a 35mm f 1.2 Nokton (modified for the M8) from Stephen on Wednesday. The service at Camera Quest is quick to say the least.... sent him the paypal Wednesday morning and received the lens on Friday.

Love this f 1.2 lens at 1/7th the price of a new Noctilux. Pics look sharp and have a distinct character. The lens actually is smaller and lighter than I anticipated

You can beat the service at Camera Quest and I highly recommend them to anyone thinking about buying C/V's.

Rod Fung,
I'm joining you in praising the service at Camera Quest. I ordered a 35/2.5 Skopar Classic last wednesday, and the lens arrived in France just one week later. Because of stupid French delivery service, I'll have the lens only on monday: it almost took less time to cross the sea, than to cross Paris :bang:
Hats off Stephen Gandy! :)
Marc

CameraQuest is good for sale. I would skip them for service. $100 to tightened the rear retention ring with a spanner? I'll pass.

My experience is different, I phoned to order a lens, left a detailed message and the call was never returned.

I don't know what happened with your message. But I have always been surprised by the number of people who leave incomplete, or even inaccurate contact info in their phone messages.

All I can add is that service from CameraQuest has always been excellent for me. When I've ordered I've had quick and friendly responses, great prices, and delivery within about a week to the UK. Suffice to say that my next lens order will be from Stephen - the possibility of me going anywhere else just doesn't arise.

Cheers,

When you say 'modified for the M8' could you explain what you mean? Coded maybe? You've piqued my interest.
CameraQuest is the BEST! Love his website - after you figure out how to scroll around it that is!

Same here, except that you subsitute "France" for "UK". Anyway, IMVHO it would better that people who have some grievance, complain and settle their problem in private. It's just my opinion, but I'm not judging anybody.
Cheers,

Marc,
that should be valid for the positive comments too, shouldn't it?
No, I disagree. Positive comments are always appreciated and don't need verification. Negative comments can hurt a reputation for along time. So one should always check in private to give the other party a chance to make good. After or if that fails then public negative comments might be warranted. IMVHO.

i agree with the second part.
I disagree with the positive part.
Positive comments = publicity, in a way.
IMVHO, of course.

I've never used CameraQuest to service equipment, but I have purchased a number of Bessa's and CV lenses from Stephen and have always found him to be prompt, friendly and affordable.

I work two days a week in a pro camera shop here in Maine and I heartily recommend CameraQuest for folks looking to buy (or looking for information on) LTM or M42 equipment almost weekly.

In the same token that positive comments are welcomed, why should comments other than positive ones not be? Would the review of reseller have any relevance if only positive ones are visible to the public? What is the goal of threads like these? Free publicity to the reseller or honest customer feedback so readers can make his read and make his own assessment? I'm with the latter

did you read my previous question?

What were you talking about ?

I gave you kudos as a reseller to make purchases from. However, I felt your quote for repair was high. High enough that I would not seek services from you in the future. Others' mileage might vary.

exactly what did I quote you for what? off hand, it does not ring a bell.

I would like to know what you are talking about.

Stephen

Problem is outlined here: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39939

The quote was $100. Other reputable service guru from the Midwest quoted less than half that. After more research, I just ended up fixing it myself with a lens spanner. Like I said, others mileage may vary. I recommend you make the inquiries first and then make your decision on who to go with.
