10% Leica USA Increase July 1, 2008

I have a summicron IV, I wanted to buy a Summilux 35 ASPH three years ago for less than 3k, but ended up spending the money on a used lens. It is even harder to get the lens now. Didn't see many summilux ASPH on ebay either.

I wish they skipped it once at least. How's the used market going to survive if these things keep happening? 🙁

Francisco, I didn't think much about it but you are right, it will bump up prices for recent stuff in the used market. Is this just in the U.S.?

Let's see... the U.S. is in the middle of a harsh recession.... and we've got $300 checks from the government to help "aid" the relief...

So here comes Leica (whom I love) with a 10% increase on their digital rangefinder after it's been on the market more than a year and and months later, a 10% increase across the board.

But, I guess whoever is plunking down $6 grand for a lens isn't really feeling this economic downturn.

Not on the M8..(as per the first post).

10% in the U.S. should be considered a blessing - as I've noted in previous posts, the price increase in Canada and the UK on lenses was up to 30%.
