The June 16th 2006 issue of PEN News Weekly, (the Joint PhotoImaging Enterprises Association International) has an interesting Cosina article.
According to the article, 1000 of the 2500 R2M R3M will be exported to Europe. You can safely figure that many or more will be sold in Japan, which could mean less than 500 for the US, Canada, and the rest of the Pacific Rim.
"While some makers are retreating from the film camera business, Cosina is getting an increasing number of hobbyists users in the home market who love the sophisticated film cameras."
"Cosina, whose main business is optical component and device products, has also ben focusing on production of sophisticated cameras utilizing its lens technologies, supported by the lovers of classic cameras on the home turf."
"The camera makes intends to increase the ratio of its camera business, estimated at around 30% of total sales of 12 Billion Yen ($104.3 Mil) for the term ended in Jan 2006." -- the article does not make it clear if this is a yearly or quarterly production figure ---
