100mm RF645 lens again. . . . . $$$$

I've not got much MF experience, owning only the RF645 and a Yashicamat, but I do feel the RF645 is over-rated, or possibly just over-hyped. I haven't decided whether to sell mine or not yet but I've seen nothing which would tempt me to buy the 100mm lens.

Nutty prices like that tempt me to sell my 100mm lens, since I scarcely use it anyway...

I'm thinking I might sell mine for $800 to buy an Epson R2400.

not sure, though. I do love the lens. It has such a nice handling characteristics in the field, such nice bokeh, and it is so amazingly sharp. It's not worth $1400, though. I'd rather have an M6 + Nokton than this lens, personally. FOr that price.

Shutterflower, just my opinion. Don't sell your lens now if you think you might want another one in a couple of years. Epson printers will always be around. :)

I know it. Lens is staying. Something else is going. . . . the add shall return to the classifieds again. I just had to be sure about replacing (it) with another (it).

It's really surprising to hear that, considering how hard you worked to get it. I guess I'm glad I just paid $400 for mine (a year ago), so it doesn't bother me as much if I don't use it too often.

Found a 100mm lens at a sensible price!

Found a 100mm lens at a sensible price!

Hi,
Well having watched some ebay bidders going mad for the 100mm Zenzanon-RF I am pleased to say I found one by mail order for $490. It should arrive in time for my Summer holiday in the Orkney Islands, so I look forward to taking my Bronica outfit with me. :)

Good going, Ian! That's about suggested retail price I believe, and guess your supplier didn't hear what he COULD have sold it for! :) Enjoy!

Bronica 100mm lens at a sensible price

Bronica 100mm lens at a sensible price

Hi Well I have received my 100mm for the Bronica RF645, and it is indeed in mint condition, and boxed. Only issue is the lens hood is missing.
Along with shipping and import duty and VAT into the UK I reckon I paid £360 in all, but that's still a whole lot better than the crazy ebay prices we have all seen. Clearly the supplier is / was happy with the price so I would rather not cause them upset by naming them, after all they definitely have no more, so what would that achieve? (If they had had more I guess I would have bought two, and auctioned one of them to raise money to pay for the one to keep!).
It's a shame not to have the lens hood, as it does offer that degree of extra protection to the front of the lens. I wonder if I could find a generic hood about the same size? Here's looking forward to taking some nice pictures with the RF this summer. :)

The hood isn't that good, to be honest - certainly not deep enough to be truely effective, and nothing like the petal hood on the other lenses, although you can at least fit the lens cap into it! I'd been thinking of trying a deeper metal B&H hood, although the flare characteristics of all the lenses seem to be excellent.

Congrats, Ian, upon actually receiving the lens! The Bronica hood is very minimal, offering the barest possible protection from light off to the side. I'd think you could find an attractive 3rd-party hood for a "normal" lens that would work better.
