So, having been round the same old block photographically several times, so to speak, I decide to take a Leica I (10473) from 1928 to the Goodwood Revival...with out of date Neopan 400.

I can leave the new fangled M6 behind, I'm confident, I know about old cameras, I was brought up with Leicas, I'm an expert I've been doing it all since before you were born.
I also take a meter but I forget my glasses.
Bah!
Straight out of the cupboard. I haven't used this camera in years, sounds like the second curtain is a mite lazy.

I have forgotten what to do with the white incident light thingy on my meter...read up on this later...The meter is in a modern shutter speed scale, the camera is in the old one 20/30/40/60/100/200/500. The meter is in a modern aperture scale the camera, the old one 3.5/4.5/6.3/9/12.5/18 etc.
OK so I know they are all halfway between each other etc etc but I am now getting confused so I give up with the meter and try to do sunny 18 (not 16) on a dull, rainy day and inside tents.

No rangefinder on this one. The camera is in metres, I think I judge distances in feet (which is one of the reasons I like the US), I haven't done this in ages, I started asking people 'how far away do you think?'....this is really the worst bit

The markings on shutter speed dial, focussing and aperture were difficult to see without my glasses. They are actually quite difficult to see with my glasses.
My fingers obstruct the moving shutter speed dial when doing 'candid' photos at arms length.

The 'hockey stick' infinity lock is really counter intuitive to someone brought up on the later versions.

Rewinding? I'd forgotten how long it takes with an ungeared non extending rewind...
The amount of time all the above has been covered on the forum, sometimes with helpful advice from me, is frankly embarrassing!
So, at this point I am a little uncertain as to whether to waste money getting the film processed but....well here are some shots, We might not have always managed a full evenly exposed frame (hence cropping) but I am so proud!

Next? Well I am progressing to a 49786 which has a rangefinder, dirty Summar, a very 'clacky' shutter and the worst cosmetics imaginable...the moral? Pretty obvious...
