120 Film Processing? Where?

Hi all,

I was wondering where everyone got their Medium format film processed? I dont have access to my own developing right now, and I'll be in need of a means to get my film developed (and posibly a contact sheet).

You know to do it yourself you only need a changing bag, and a processing tank with reel. No darkroom needed to develop film.
 
I don't have a changing bag, so I use a totally dark closet. Most big cities have at least one pro lab that does 120 film, even Oklahoma City has a couple. For slide film, though, I'm tempted to send it to Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, KS. Anyone use them, are they good and fast?
 
I've been doing 35mm for the past three months so I know how to do it, but the problem is that begining in the next few months I wont have time to do any film processing on my own. :(

I'm in my final year of college and I'm preparing my final portfolio/demo reel for my Visual Effects career... or soon to be career.... hopefully.....hehe.

That and the facility i have to chemicals, enlargers, etc wont allow me to check-out equipment once I'm no longer actively taking photography courses....

Check all your local labs-any Noritsu or Frontier can process 120 C41 film, if the operator is willing.

Are you sure? I asked at Wolf Camera. They said the film wouldn't fit. Maybe they just aren't willing.

I've used Dwayne's for Kodachrome & 120 C-41 processing. I like their work. I figure it's cheaper & easier than making two round trips through Houston traffic to a lab.

Take a roll of 120 exposed film you don't care about to Wal-Mart and ask them to process it. Some folks claim they can send it away somewhere & it comes back ok. It's worth a shot!

I asked at the CVS drugstore and they said they can do it, they just have to send it out.
But I use Moto-Photo..

Yep, I'm sure. I get my 120 done at a local lab on a Noritsu, negs only, while I wait! The Frontiers do it too.
 
The local Ritz store will take it and send it out. You might try any local to you. There is also a local store (Falls Church, VA) that will accept 120 by mail, at least from regular customers that then come in to pick it up. I have never asked, but they might also be willing to send it back by mail. They do good work. I can give you their telephone number if you are interested. But I would really try local shops like Ritz and the like, or even local places like your local 35mm processing place.
 
I use Dwayne's Photo in Parson's Kansas, although I live right across the bridge from New York City. They appear to be good, although they did ruin a roll of E6 slide film and kinked a roll of 120 lately. I must say I never had that happen before at any 1 hour lab.

I'm from Chatham, pretty close to your neck of the woods, though I live in Oklahoma now. I just sent several rolls of slide and 110 film to Dwayne's, about a week ago, and am chomping at the bit to get it back. Now you're scaring me...IF it comes back. How is the turnaround for you? I live one state to the south, and it seems like it should have come back to me by now......John.
 
Mail lately has been running S-L-O-W. Almost a week to Plano, TX, over a week to Detroit & almost 2 weeks to California from Houston. Be patient.

Did you ask to have scanning done? If so, that adds about 5 days (They say 3). I wouldn't start worrying until 2 weeks have passed. At least I've never had anything lost outright at Dwaynes, including a roll I sent to a Kodak address on an expired Kodak mailer that went to Dwayne's and took 3 months to return to me. Not Dwayne's fault.

I think only the high end Fuji Frontiers such as the 590 can handle 120/220.

The operator does not always know this.

So scope out the model numbers of the machines in stores near you and look the machines up online. Then print the part of the operator manual that applies and take it with you when you drop off your film. They'll say they can't do it, and you'll say yes you can and here's how.

They can do a 'contact sheet' but they may call it an 'index print'. Same thing.

The latest Frontiers can print to 12" x 18", and scan to 3000 dpi.
 
I just got back from my local Ritz Camera store. They have a Frontier machine that processes 120/220 C-41 film. Amazing! All I had to do was ask!

Then, why do I get such low res scans when I order scanning?
