I've recently bought a 35mm summicron and it came with a leitz wetzlar Germany 12504 hood that could be unscrewed into two parts ( the screw in hood itself and the clip on adapter). Now I'm looking to replace the beat up screw in hood, would anyone by any chance know what size the threaded screw in hood is in mm?

i believe that the combination of A42 clip-on adapter and screw-in vented shade is intended to act as a Series VII filter holder -- you could try looking for hoods intended to screw into a different S7 adapter....

Yeah I understand that, but I think you are going to have a harder time finding the hood itself, than just buying a complete one outright.

Happy hunting! 🙂

This. You'll perhaps struggle there maybe The sandwich design is made to hold a series six loose Leica type filter but I see what part you are trying to find. As has been suggested, I can personally confirm that the Chinese cheapo knock off ones work surprisingly well if you need a compromise in the end.

i have another question on the same issue, will the replacement hood, the screw in type, mounted over a uv filter, vignette?

I recall it's about the same size and shape as the original so I would say probably not. The wildcard here however is that the filter in front of the lens would be in a different position perhaps as the lux in standard mode only takes the series six loose filters squeezed in between the two parts that screw together to make the original hood.

Are you talking about screwing a UV filter into the front of the pre-asph and then screwing the knock off replacement hood into that? Not sure if that's possible, never tried using filters with the cheapos.
