Either a reminder or a bit of news to some of us....:)

There are three days each year, worldwide, designated as 127 Film Day. The first was January 27...

The second one is upcoming on July 12th.

In recognition of the first observation of such a day for me, I will be posting 127 images on this thread specifically for 12/7 (12 July). I have a few to share if I can figure out a way to actually post a decent image (grrrr...).

POST YOURS! We all would like to see how others are shooting their 127 film cameras.:D:D:D:D:D

PS: This was my last developed roll of 127, from a post on another site:

That's a nice shot David.

Just noticed, the Rera-Pan 100 in 127 size seems to be completely sold out everywhere. So now the options are to cut down 120 film or do that bulk Ilford order. Have you talked to Freestyle lately, do they have enough orders for the bulk rolls to make 23?

Best,
-Tim

No, actually I thought about it this morning and been running errands. Who did you talk to before?

Hint: if you rush you can order a few rolls at Blue Moon... i ordered 2 at a premium 12.99/ea. but don't wait long!

Tim,

Just called Freestyle and they had no idea or not releasing the number of orders yet. It will be a few weeks after May 26th. Not sure how that works but I was told that they only had to cancel twice in 13 years.

Just a wait and see situation.

Thanks for the info on Blue Moon. They've got 20 rolls left, then it's all gone. You need to call them directly if you want to order more than three rolls, because their web site ordering restricts the order to three rolls or less.

Best,
-Tim

Hi,

Much as I like playing with the Purma Special I don't think I'll bother using it. It's a bit too noisy for my liking.

Regards, David

This image was not taken recently. But I did take it using 127 film in my Brownie Holiday camera, the very first camera that I owned. The film used was Verichrome Pan. The image was taken in the early 60's at the summer camp I attended.

David,

Thst is a cool looking camera!!!

Just out of curiosity, you should at least shoot two rolls with it!

:):):)

Hi,

Yes, it's great fun to play with and thanks for the link. Not one I've seen before; I bought the camera becuse of all the adverts and a review in the 1930's magazines.

What's impressive about it comes in the Focal Guide to it which has a lot of good to excellent sample photo's and - amazingly - one of them is marked as an official Royal Navy photo and taken during the Normandy landing.

BTW, 127 film here is about twice the price of it in your part of the world.

Regards, David

Did you talk with them on the phone, or are you just going by what you can order online?

Because when I talked with them on the phone this morning, they still had 20 rolls left.

Best,
-Tim

I went to the Automat and there is no listing for 127 film now. :(

Back to the op..,

It is only four weeks until the second 127 FILM DAY of the year!
Please post yours on July 12th!!!

I am working on a roll now just for that day.:):):)

Shot a roll of Rerapan at the end of May, unfortunately the bellows on the VPK had developed a leak and there was a smudge on the rear lens giving really weird center softenss. Both problems have now been corrected....

Need to re-order some 127 film now.

I love photos like these! Thank you for sharing, not only is it a fond memory of your own past and experiences, but also a reminder of the times when all my changes occurred, some not so good, but most that are wonderful to remember.:)

Lovely image...:):):)

That's actually quite impressive for such an old camera. Reminds me I need to finish the film that is in mine - and to be more diligent with it. I think I'd benefit greatly by using it on a tripod to minimize camera shake, and to be sure I have the photo framed carefully in the viewfinder. I keep shooting too high or too low!

Rick's re-enactment photo is reminiscent of the roll of 127 negatives of my grandfather's time in service, during WW 1. My favorite is this one, taken in late 1917 before he shipped out, of my grandfather and his youngest brother. My uncle Nick came along late, born in 1912; though there was 21 years age difference between them, my grandfather and Nick were close throughout their lives.
