In case, some of us have not gotten familiar with the Ilford ULF program, it is open as of today! There is another thread in this forum with links... Here is the link to Ilford:

Here is one of the suppliers (follow the Ilford link for other suppliers):

You/we have until May 25th to order bulk roll HP5+ 127 film and believe me it is a godsend.

Finishing my own 50' roll now and should have enough to just barely last until it is delivered in the Fall.

Don't delay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please know there is a minimum order required for Harman to produce the special order films. This is what? the 12th or 13th year? and I highly recommend you buy two rolls. One to use initially and the other to go in the freezer!

Enjoy!!!!:D

How do make 127 rolls?

In the darkroom unravel film , cut and stick to trimmed 120 backing paper?

Thanks for the heads up - hope it goes through this year, last year it didn't...BTW looks like it is cheaper to order through freestyle photo, which is where I hve order in the past.

Essentially yes, it is quite easy once you get the hang of it. Easier if you use old paper from exposed film in the past. Be sure to use metal spools which you can buy on eBay.

Charles has a great thread on how to cut down 120 film but if you use 127 film, half the work is fine for you.HP5+ is great to use.

I will be using Charles' technique for slower 120 film and even for slide film.

Thanks for the heads-up David. I think I'm gonna pass. If they had FP4+ in 46mm I'd be all over it as that's been my new "happy film" of late (I can get it in 2.25 x 3.25 and 6.5 x 9cm sheets), but I've never been much of a fan of their HP5+ film. I'll probably just keep cutting down 120.

What is the cost of a 50ft roll of the 46mm?

Best,
-Tim

David, looking at that Ilford sheet you posted, (and talking to Freestyle about some of the 6.5 x 9cm FP4+ sheet film), the sales rep mentioned that you would need to purchase 23 of those 46mm x 50ft rolls at a time, at something like $115 per roll, for Freestyle to order them for you.

Best,
-Tim

That is not the way it worked in the past... I will try Badger just for grins and let you know...Their site shows any number at $139 per roll.

Larry Cloetta sold me his that he bought sometime back and it works out great using older backing paper over and over.

I, too, wish they had FP4, but whatcha gonna do? I will eventually cut my own film down, because I love the concept of using any film available!

Just an update...

Badger is closed but I talked with Renee at Blue Moon in Portland, Oregon. There is no minimum order per customer.

There certainly is a 23 roll order minimum per dealer as stated on the website for the ULF program. In fact, the Film Photography Project folks will be ordering from the ULF program, too, according to Michael.

So, I will place my order tomorrow.:D

Then, you guys will have to guide me along to getting set up to cut my preferred 120 film down to 127.

I think it will take me at least 10 rolls to really get the feel of the Baby Rolleiflex and then I would like to shoot another 10 with confidence. This is really going to be fun!!!!:p

Emily, from Freestyle, just sent me this email explaining their program with Ilford as per the 127 film.

"Hello,

Per our conversation, I inquired with our Ilford buyer.

The 23 unit minimum is correct, however, each individual customer is free to order as many or as little as they choose.

Not only is it a minimum order of 23 units, it also has to be ordered in quantities of 23.

If you place an order for this item and the minimum is met, it will ship out to you in early October.
If the minimum is not met, we will refund your account as soon as we find out.
Typically, we find out if minimums are met about two weeks after the deadline of May 25th.

Sorry for any confusion.

Best regards,
Emily
"

Hope that clears things up.

Best,
-Tim

Thanks, Tim!!!

That was my understanding and is the best explanation by far!
We really need to support this program for now and the future.

Okay, I am ordering mine...who will buy the other 21 rolls?:D

I wonder if what they're saying is: If they don't get orders for 23 rolls, they won't get any? 23 rolls is kind of a lot but if its 23 rolls from each of a half-dozen or so retailers here in the US that is a REAL lot of film!

Yeah Charles, I think it's a situation where each retailer has to order 23 rolls at a time. So Freestyle and others will take orders from customers between now and May 25th and if they don't have orders for at least 23, then they're not going to order any and refund the money to anyone who ordered the film. And what I didn't realize is that it's not just a minimum of 23, it's multiples of 23. So if 25 rolls are ordered, the first 23 will get the film, but the last two are out of luck because Freestyle has to order 23, or 46, or 69, or etc.

Best,
-Tim

My thoughts exactly!

It seems if you get in early, like first batch, your odds are better!

That is why I am ordering today... still no idea why the window is weeks shorter this time around.

DONE!!!

Just ordered two rolls of HP5+ ... now I am set for a long while. While I finish up what I have already, I will learn the 120 film cut down procedure with all kinds of cool film!

:p:p:p

So as long as whomever you ordered it through gets orders for 23 rolls, you'll get the film in October or November, am I understanding that correctly?

Best,
-Tim
