and another thing..........keep ALL of your cameras and film in the car in the shade. Trunk temps. can cook film and cameras. A small cooler, even without ice, will keep your film at a relative constant temperature.

I will readily admit that I haven't planned much for this drive, other than the general direction! Hell, I'm (relatively) young and travelling alone- I don't care if I drive ten hours one day and 30 minutes the next... Just as long as I get there in time to give the lawyer his money!
I'm thinking now that I may take the I-80E and I-90E route across, but I am totally open to suggestions.
I do think that on the 17th I would like to take the first ferry from Vancouver Island to the mainland and book it down to Seattle. That should give me most of the first day to hang out and shoot a bit. I wouldn't mind visiting Glazers Camera, as Tom A suggested. The only 'exotic' film I can get at home is Tmax, haha.

I will have to keep the tank topped up, for sure... It's a tiny (37 liter) affair so I only get ~400 km to a fill... Does anyone know what brand of gas in the States carries 94 octane gas? The car requires (as a minimum) 91/92 and I prefer to fill with the 94...

93 Premium is common in the States. My Volvo Turbo wagon requires 91 minimum and runs just fine on 93. Your car has greater range than motorcycles. They have no trouble criss crossing the USA. This really isn't the land of the Road Warrior. Project Idea: Photo of every fuel stop. There are some really garish and some really quaint places to buy petrol.
Travelling beyond your driveway without a spare is insane.

@ Wayne, your route sounds pretty interesting. I should make a note of it and try it sometime. I enjoy the coincidence that you use a cooler because I use them too. One for the cameras that are loaded and another for the film both un/exposed.
I hope I'm not scaring people. Not my intent. Just that police on interstates stop speeders. I can't say for the area in Texas but the US north east is notorious for speed traps. I'll regularly see a minimum of two traps on a day trip often with customers. Regarding the $500 that's direct experience. Ugh! I use my speed control and smile as I drive by. They're happy I'm not exceeding the limit and so am I.
I traveled secondary roads and many smaller towns were "closed" at 5.00 -6.00 pm. I just got into the habit of fueling up late in the afternoon, not hard to do.

I'm with Ray, I just did this on my way out to Minneapolis from San Francisco. Well worth it.
Here's the bag I took- SWC and M6 with 35 and 50. On hikes I occasionally swapped the M6 for a Rolleiflex.
