[This is not my ad. I have nothing to do with the seller or this lens]
On photo.net right now:
"Nice Canon Serenar 35mm f2.8 rf Leica Thread Mount chrome lens in ex condition. Front/rear caps, of course, included. $135 + postage US only pls.
Worked well on my IIIc, but I don't need two 35mm lenses. The Summaron gets jealous. (Expires Jan 10, 2008)"

I sure wouldn't let mine go for that price.

Hood ?
Hood ?
Now according to the earlier thread, I need Series VI 36mm push on (or 34mm screw in) VI adapter - and of course, the hood. Anybody? The Canon original would be nice.
Also, I've the Canon 50mm f1.9 collapsible lens, with the square hood but without adapter, so need another VI Series one, for 40mm (screw in) or what equivalent size push on?
Thanks in advance.

34mm to Series VI rings are out there. I bought a couple from someone on ebay. Sorry, don't remember who. I have the original 35mm/50mm Series VI hood. Nope, I'm not parting with it.
A 34mm to 39mm step up ring and one of Heavy2stars 39mm vented hoods (heavy2stars photo on ebay) should work for the 35/2.8 lens. You could do the same thing, 40mm to 43mm step up ring & 43mm hood, for the 50mm lens.

Great buy!!! This is my favorite travel lens. Since it takes the 36mm push on, you have other possibilities for a hood. I have heard of somebody taking an old shattered 36mm clamp on filter, removing the glass and using that as a base for a homemade shade. I use the hood off of a Leica 50mm Summar (SOOMP). Works great, but a bit pricey unless it is given to you. What I am trying to say, is there are all sorts of options. You just might have to be a little creative.

I don't think that a hood is neded with this lens. I have never used a hood with my 35mm/2.8.

I would agree. I should have mentioned that even though I use Summar hood on my 35mm/2.8, I usually only use it so I am not banging the lens into something when I am carrying it. This lens seems to be pretty resistant to flare with or without a hood.
