So, I got a 15mm Heliar today, Ive already managed to become frustrated.

1, I cant seem to figure out how to adjust the lens "hood" to sit level. I cant even find the issue on google. This has to be a very common problem. What can I do?

2, In the process of exploring my options, I lost the rear set screw for what looks like a housing over the rear optical group? Its the only screw on the black bit on the rear of the lens. Im thoroughly Ticked off that the screw is gone, but just know my g/f is in time out. I just need to know what size it is, and where I could buy one.

There is nowhere I can go to find out for myself, google is useless.
Would someone mind pulling theirs and giving me a idea of where to start?

If anything, can I get that darn hood to look like its not all ****aroo.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

That hood has never sat in the correct position on any camera I've used mine on ... I gave up worrying about it a long time ago.

I just had a look at mine ... that is a very small screw!

It's not the smallest I've dealt with, but finding it in my old house is an impossibility.

I spent 35minutes on my knees with a flashlight, with no luck.

What a dumb mistake!

Try using a strong magnet to sweep over the area you lost the screw. It's a good way to find such small things in difficult places.

Alternately ... vaccuum the area and have a rumage through the vac bag or tank afterwards.

Something I was working on a while ago had brass screws and when I dropped one the magnet idea was a no go! :D

I actually found the screw, then proceeded to drop it again.

The fact I'm having a migraine isn't helping at all, so I collected ever bit of dust into a bowl, to search through later.

Blake, ive only managed a few snaps from the lens. But the kit was nice! Now to forgive myself for being a clutz... Might not happen lol

Excedrin for migraine!

Sweeping with a small brush can be helpful. I use a small piece of paper rather than a dustpan. Magazine renewal postcards are about right.

Good Luck!

If you're talking about the screw mount version that I have:

The way to straighten things up is to take off the mount--just the chrome part held on at the back with several screws. Underneath you'll find a row of (4?) screwholes for each single mounting screw. Pick the one in the row that aligns the lens with the hood up straight, and screw the mount back on, into that set of screws.

Don't lose anything. If the screws won't come loose easily, stop--don't break anything.

I went ahead an cracked into the lens again, thanks for the input ^

As for the tiny set screw, no luck finding it again.

Migraine is gone, and I'm not feeling so "emotional" haha
If I can't find it, a drop of shellac will keep my mind at ease.
