18mm f/4.0 Distagon T* ZM

Considering this focal length, that price is not bad at all. I've been very impressed with the Cosina-Zeiss lenses.

But then again, Cosina-Voigtlaender's 15mm f/4.5 can be had for about a third of that.

But then again, you can put a filter nicely on this new Distagon, and that matters a lot to me.

Hmm. I really can't afford GAS. Anybody want to buy a cat for $1,200? He understand English, Spanish and French...

Has anyone done any tests of this lens. I do not recall hearing of any dene by magazines or the usual websites.

Seems to show the 21 4.5 to be the pricing anomoly it seems to be as this lens is faster and wider, yet is not hugley more expensive. For the 21 4.5 to still be more expensive than its faster cousin is annoying me. Its like charging more for a 35 summicron over the 'lux.

I will be interested to hear how this new 18mm performs. Although it looks big by ZM standards, thats still only a 58mm front thread!

Love the ZM lenses I own. But I don't have much use for a lens wider than my 25mm, so this lens is not one that i desire.

I had a VC 15 and I what I liked most about it was the extremely close focussing capabilities.....but this 1.8cm fl lens doesn't do the .3m focus, rather a .5m close focus. probably not much of a concern to most shooting architectural and landscapes....but hey, what about the worm's wide view in high grass? 😛
