1930's film carton?

I am not anticipating a Pronea forum any time soon, though the camera performed fine, and prints were good up to 11x14, seemed they took a long time to get APS to market?

I gave an Elph to my friends for their vacation, and they got the best photos they had taken, but they still bought a couple of P&S digitals, though they only shoot perhaps 20 photos a year.

Their son was the only one not to have his camera stolen on an over night train trip in Europe, it was not digital, just a Leica Mini I loaned him. ;-)

I THINK? that this is the second style of box that Kodak ever made for the Kodachrome films, these are rare, I have seen more postwar and post 1950 boxes and cans then ones this old.

I'm glad to see other people who appreciate film boxes.
It's a little obsession of mine. I'm also picky about the design of box and canister.

$32 for an empty box with the metal canister and prepaid envelope... Let's see if my empty KR boxes without envelopes will be worth that in 75 years.

Wonderful design there too. The current prepaid (european) design is, in my opinion, rather horrible, that multicolor rainbow line doesn't fit in the design. The canister inside is one of the best designs, though.
The american KR box is much better. But the canister is rather average...

And the metal canister is nice too, much nicer than today's plastic. I've got a pair of Agfa ones of my father. Too bad he didn't save more of them.

Now, if anyone forms a "film box/canister" critique group, count me in 😉
 
I honestly thought I was the only one keeping old packs of film-- found some Russian film in the darkroom today from the early 90's, and I wonder if my Czech Kodak Panatomic cardboard box is the oldest one so far.

I thought the Kodak Steel Painted cans were older, and seem to recall the green ones were for Tri X, the ones with Blue were Ektachrome, and the Yellow or Yellow and Orange ones were Kodachrome, but there seem to be a decent number of combinations.


I could not afford to use factory packed film, so I reused the old cartridges, until Kodak started staking the newer ones. I kept them for a long time. I have some of the Kodak packed cartridges specifically designed for reloading, which came without cans. My first hundred feet were loaded by hand in the dark.

Foma used cartridges until relatively recently that were the closest I have seen to the old Kodak pop off cartridges, my preferred cartridge.

Am looking now for more old cans, and boxes, have a few sources on notice.

Will have to up my quality of images though of cans, you guys are really putting effort in to it. ;-)

Well, that's a good idea, I really think that it's a really fun collecting these old boxes, we have really had some nice items mentioned here, and I'll continue to post any shots of interesting items I find. 😀

What I like to do is have a small number of cameras that I use instead or dusting and(in the long term) build an outfit around them that would be what I'd had had if I'd bought them new(ish). Now and then something drops into your lap like this

but not as often as I'd like. And it's the little details that are the hardest part...

On the flap of the boxes it says "Develop before April 1942" and gives the price as one shilling or about 20 cents in US money at the 1940's exchange rate.

Anyone have any of the Agfa cartridges that fed in to another cartridge? I think they worked in half frame Memo's as well. Karat or some such name?

I have some cartridges for my Tessina, which I have not shot yet. I have come to realize there are a lot of cameras in my "collection" I will never shoot, I did find a brick of 127 B&W recently, so may take the baby Rollei for a walk.

127 super slides were knock outs in a 35mm projector, as were Instamatic slides.

A camera show is coming up in a couple of weeks, when dealers buy a box of old cameras, they commonly toss the old film. Also, it is a funny thing, you can ask a half dozen dealers if they have old film, and the following show the buzz will bring in much more.

Thanks, I think mine is Macophot? I have some Kodak yet, and have been meaning to visit Croatia to see what they have. I had my Rollei CLA'd, but still have not used it.

I have some interesting old Kodak 127 cameras as well. It was an interesting format.

For the super slides I have the 16 ex back for my Hassleblad, but think it may never be used. ;-)

I'm still looking for a 1946 expire dated K-135 Kodachome 18exp "daylight" box with can, or any German language Agfa film products 35mm oriented dated 1944 to 1946.

The evilbay has been dry of any Leica film cartons or tins for a while now, and I haven't seen anything vintage Kodachrome for a while either......

Not a thing I'm afraid, although I did pick up a couple of elderly Minox Afgapan 400 boxes recently but display only as the Minox has been relegated - I don't know who can D&P the film in the UK.

BTW, just to show what we are now up against; I walked into a charity shop a few days ago and someone got out of last year's Bentley and followed me in... If that money's reduced to charity shops then ebay must have dried up completely!

If the writing isn't that clear I'll add that it's 36 exposures and speed is 10°/10 DIN. I guess Feinkorn means fine grain...

Can anyone date it from Agfa's address in "Berlin SO 36" or from the cameras listed on the instruction sheet, please?

It wasn't hard to find; just trawl through ebay and hope. And what I've missed there because I never thought it would sell that cheaply is best not thought about!
