Last summer I posted about a IIIc that was for sale. I checked and it still is bit the owner still has it priced to high, $600. It's a clean camera with a period 5cm 3.5 lens. What would be a good starting point to open negotiations and what's the most I should pay? I have pictures of it on my IPhone but this is my firs smart phone and can't figure out how to resize them so I can post them.

If both body and lens are in good condition with no scratches, haze, cleaning marks etc., then $600 is not an unreasonable price ie. $300 each for lllc body and 3.5 Elmar - I'd buy the combo at that price.

When I posted about it in the summer I got the idea from members that $600 was to much.
When I found out it was still available thought I'd find out what would be a reasonable offer but if you think $600 is reasonable I'll probably pass on it. I don't have that kind of money right now to spend on it. Though I guess I could try to ebay some of my other cameras to come up with some m

$300 is high for an IIIc unless it's especially clean or has a recent professional CLA. Average condition (functional but likely to need service soon) IIIcs seem to be in the $150-180 range.

The later red scale Elmars are generally in the $300-350 or so while coated standard ones seem to be in the $150-250 range depending on condition and market demand.

Sold together, there is often a moderate discount. Here are some recent example completed sale prices:

Exactly. He is 2 or 3 times too high.

Some owners don't know how much 35mm has plummeted. Or they're not really motivated to sell, but would if someone offered them a ton of money. Heck, I love my 2 year old car, but I'd sell it if someone offered me what a new one goes for!
